Project Overview:
Located in Mount Pleasant, the Carolina Park CPC‑14 project added two new retail and office buildings adjacent to Wando High School. The nearly 19,000 SF of new space sits on approximately 3.25 acres and includes a detention pond, 94 parking spaces, and two new access points from Warrior Way and Carolina Park Boulevard.
Construction began in December 2022 with site clearing, followed quickly by balancing and earthwork to establish building pads and get the parking lot in place as early as possible. The project included one fire hydrant and two new water services tied into the existing 16″ water main along Carolina Park Boulevard. JWC also installed new sewer services to both building pads, along with provisions for future connections to the adjacent project site.
Collaboration with Harbor Contracting was a key component of the project’s success. Harbor Contracting’s expertise aligned with JWC’s goals from initial Mount Pleasant site clearing and earthwork through to the vertical construction phases, helping keep the project coordinated and on schedule.
Challenges & Details:
- Addressing incorrect sewer grades discovered in the existing manhole
- Completing an open-cut roadway crossing for storm drain installation along Warrior Way while managing Wando High School traffic
